The Design Indaba has recently announced the Emerging Creatives Class of 2021 curated by Thabiso Mjo and Cole Ndelu. In late March, the Design Indaba announced this year's top 40 rising talent in arts & design in South Africa, this platform which has been running for the past 16 years has been dedicated to promoting & supporting young emerging creatives. It takes a new format of virtual exhibitions, ongoing social media content, online profiles, videography & documentary, in response to the pandemic.
This platform has always been my favourite experience of the annual Design Indaba Conference which is usually held in Cape Town late February, I am super excited that it is still continuing despite the times and that young artists still get to be part of this amazing opportunity, the likes of Pichulik of Pichulik, Thebe Magugu, Cole Ndelu, Laduma Ngxokolo & many more others have been Design Indaba's Emerging Creatives and have gone far to gain international recognition.
I am personally looking forward to getting to know all this year's emerging creatives and celebrating them and ofcourse as friends of geminvision; duo digital photographers ( Luchwayito Vena class of 2019 & Lithemba Nziweni class of 2021) from the Eastern Cape who are now both Design Indaba's Emerging Creatives proud.
In the coming months Design Indaba will be profiling each of the 40 members of this year's class listed according to their respective design disciplines including fashion, film & photography graphy, ceramics, illustrations, furniture, interior, graphic design, jewellery and visual art.
